SCUT and the University of Western Australia (UWA) will be working together  on building a new faculty of marine science and engineering at SCUT’s Guangzhou  International Campus, according to an agreement that was signed by leaders of  the two universities this month.

A UWA’s delegation led by its newly appointed Vice-Chancellor Dawn  Freshwater, along with Pro Vice-Chancellors John Dell and Wendy Erber, visited  SCUT’s campus on May 19. They were received by Zhang Xichun, Secretary of the  CPC SCUT Committee, and Zhu Min, SCUT’s Vice President, at the Liwu Building of  Science and Technology.

In further steps of the Sino-Australia College launched by SCUT and UWA  earlier this year, which has delivered the 3+2 international class program into  practice, the two partner universities are now looking to explore more  collaboration, in particular with regard to marine science and engineering, life  sciences and materials science.

The guests from Australia, after the meeting, had a tour at SCUT’s State  Key Laboratory of Luminescent Materials and Devices.
