The press conference scene

    With the after heat of the Tokyo Olympic Games, Guangdong starts its seasonal sports events. The press conference of the 11th Guangdong University Games and the 13th Guangdong Secondary School Games was held at SCUT on August 8, which was also the 13th National Fitness Day. Qiu Kernan, the second-class inspector of the provincial department of education, Zhu Min, the vice president of SCUT, Gao Dongrui, the vice mayor of Shaoguan City, and reporters from 12 media including the Xinhua News Agency attended the press conference.

    The two Games sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and the Provincial Sports Bureau, is a triennial sports event and a showcase of the reform and development of school sports in Guangdong over the past three years. Qiu Kernan introduced the six features of this coming events, including added competitions in the secondary school games,  different organization, expanded number of trial matches, continued call for logo, song and mascot, the first attempt to develop the event market operation mode, and preparing for the National Student Games.

Introducing the arrangement plans of the two games

    Zhu Min and Gao Dongrui on behalf of the host unit, introduced the progress of the preparation for the events, showing the determination of making every effort to hold quality events by providing good services and effective prevention and control of the epidemics. Zhu Min said that SCUT had set up a group with clear division of responsibilities, conducted research to make plans, and highlighted key tasks for the purpose of organized implementation of the plans.  

    The 11th Guangdong University Games will be held in Guangzhou City from May 7 to 29, 2022, hosted by South China University of Technology, with 12 sports including track and field, swimming, basketball, volleyball, soccer, table tennis etc. A sports science research symposium will be hold in conjunction with the event.

    The heads of relevant units of Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and Provincial Sports Bureau, the Office of the Party Committee of SCUT (University Office), the Publicity Department of the Party Committee, the School of Physical Education and other relevant departments attended the conference.
