The theme of the provincial University Games is "let the beauty and power fly".Coming from 103 universities in Guangdong Province, a total of 9,101 athletes, coaches and team leaders participate in the University Games, thus makes the game the biggest and largest number of entries in the history of University Games. With regard to type of college, the game play is divided into three groups: A, B, and C, that is, Group A for undergraduate college students; Group B for high level sports teams and sports specialty students; and Group C for students from higher vocational colleges. There are altogether 11 sports of track and field, swimming, basketball, volleyball, football, table tennis, etc., including 285 events, generating a total of 1830 medals. Most of the venues are those in which 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games and the Asia Paralympic Games have taken place, and so the hardware facilities are properly furnished or equipped.

After a fierce fight lasting 22 days, and all the contestants of our delegation uniting as one, defying strong opponents, working hard, we finally won a total of 49 gold, 35 silver, and 27 copper; and 16 of our contestants broke 13 provincial University Games records, hence an outstanding ranking of our delegation: we rank the 1st place in delegation group A and B comprehensive score (2641.8 points); the 1st place in Group A comprehensive score (1181.8 points); the 3rd place in Group B comprehensive score (1234.7 points); No. 1 in total number of gold medals (24); and No. 1 in total number of medals (111). We have consecutively won this honor for two times, which adds a splendid color to the excellence of our university’s sports.
Paying respect to referees and opponents, and adhering strictly to competition rules on the field, our athletes and coaches got highly praise from participating delegations, and our delegation was recommended for the Sportsmanship Award title.
Regarding to the symposium of this Games, a total of 29 scientific research papers from our university were accepted by the General Assembly, of which one was awarded the 1st prize, 13 articles were awarded the 2nd prize, and 16 articles were awarded the 3rd prize. All of the aforementioned achievements fully shows that, under the care and support of our university leadership, our university sports is on the way of putting the "top university top sports" concept into practice, and has fully displayed to the people of the province the results of physical education in our university and the youthful, boosting, and pioneering spirit of contemporary college students.
