报告摘要:
The 21st century has been labeled a golden age in neuroscience, with eleven Nobel laureates. These discoveries have provided insights into how the brain perceives the world, remembers information, and controls the body, which is critical for the treatment of neurological and mental illnesses. Neural networks with the interaction of millions of neurons, providing certain functions, formed the basis for understanding the brain as a complex system. However, the brain consists not only of neurons but also generates fluid every minute. Recent discoveries have shown that the flow of brain fluids removes toxins and metabolic waste. During deep sleep, these processes become most active, when the brain turns into a washing machine to clean its tissues of unnecessary compounds. The scientific community recognized the existence of a meningeal network that ensures the removal of fluids from the brain. Promising trends in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, traumatic brain injury, and cancer are based on the development of new technologies for stimulation of brain drainage, or the removal of toxins from brain tissue through fluid flow. The world's first such technology is non-invasive photostimulation of the removal of toxic beta-amyloid and tau protein in patients with Alzheimer's disease.

Oxana Semyachkina-Glushkovskaya is head of Chair of Physiology of Human and Animals at the Department of Biology in the Saratov State University (Russia) and she is Deputy Director for the Commercialization of Scientific Research at the Scientific Medical Center in the Saratov State University. Her research interests are focused in neuroscience and in the development of breakthrough technologies for non-invasive therapy of brain diseases, brain drug delivery and monitoring of the immune system of the brain. She published several pioneering works discovering the promising strategies in rehabilitation medicine based on the application of the new generation lasers for stimulation of lymphatic clearance of toxins and wastes from the sleeping brain: http://lymphasleep.com/publications2.
