On October 8, South China University of Technology (SCUT) held an inauguration ceremony for its newly established teaching and research institutes. The event marked the official unveiling of the School of Energy Engineering, the School of Technology and Business, six interdisciplinary research institutes, and five key discipline clusters.

SCUT President Yang Zhongmin announced the establishment of these new institutes. Chancellor Yu Xiangcheng stressed the importance of aligning with national strategic missions, strengthening interdisciplinary synergy, and deepening open collaboration for deep integration of the chains of innovation, industry, talent and capital. These new institutes have distinct roles, focusing respectively on training talent in the energy sector, nurturing scientific and technological innovation talent in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, advancing innovation across disciplines, and promoting the high-quality upgrading of the university’s leading disciplines.
