From September 15 to 17, in line with national initiatives to build Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology hub, SCUT President Yang Zhongmin led a delegation to Hong Kong to expand collaboration in education, science and technology, talent development, and the commercialization of research achievements.

At The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on scientific collaboration and talent cultivation, and exchanged ideas at the PolyU-SCUT Joint Research Centre for Advanced and Green Composite Materials (CAGCOM). At Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), the two universities agreed to build joint collaborative platforms and submit joint applications for Hong Kong innovation and technology funding projects. The delegation also conducted field visits to leading innovation and tech bodies, including the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), aiming to leverage Hong Kong’s strategic location to advance the international validation and global adoption of SCUT's research achievements.

During the visit, President Yang met with members of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for a symposium on Guangdong-Hong Kong tech innovation integration. He also met with local alumni representatives, expressing the hope that the SCUT is looking forward to them to serve as a vital bridge in advancing the international reach of SCUT’s research outcomes, thereby driving the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area.
