In mid-May, Tang Hongwu, Chancellor of South China University of Technology (SCUT), led a delegation on a visit to the Netherlands, Italy, and Germany. During the trip, the delegation engaged with several top universities and research institutions across Europe, achieving fruitful outcomes in joint education programs, collaborative research, and talent recruitment.

During its visit to the Netherlands, SCUT agreed to establish a joint industry-academia-research platform with Wageningen University & Research (WUR). Leveraging their leading disciplines in food and agriculture, the two universities committed to fostering regular collaboration, including master's and doctoral student exchanges as well as reciprocal visits for faculty and students, ultimately building a framework that integrates academic research with industrial application.

Additionally, building on previous collaborations, SCUT and Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) agreed to further deepen their partnership in areas such as joint research, reciprocal student and faculty exchanges, university-enterprise collaborative innovation, and international scholar visits. Furthermore, they agreed to institutionalize student exchange programs and take part in the SCUT Global Summer School of Emerging Engineering.

Leveraging the newly established SCUT-PoliTo School of Future Human Habitats, SCUT signed an agreement with the Polytechnic University of Turin (PoliTO) during its visit to Italy. The agreement aims to jointly cultivate dual-degree doctoral students across all disciplines, expand undergraduate co-run programs, and establish an integrated bachelor's-to-doctoral training model. Additionally, the two universities integrated regional industrial characteristics to explore various forms of collaboration, including reciprocal faculty visits and joint university-enterprise research.

Furthermore, SCUT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Polytechnic University of Milan (POLIMI), with the intention of advancing joint dual-master's degree programs and undergraduate co-run programs, thereby facilitating comprehensive, multidisciplinary alignment. To ensure the effective implementation of these collaborative projects, the two universities also established a dedicated working group.

During its visit to Germany, SCUT signed a Letter of Intent for Joint Laboratory Collaboration with the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Under this framework, both universities will conduct interdisciplinary research focused on sustainable development, with the goal of co-establishing physical research platforms and talent exchange mechanisms. Additionally, building on the Confucius Institute, SCUT has deepened cultural and people-to-people exchanges with the Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences (THI), while expanding cooperation in areas such as reciprocal faculty and student visits, student internships, and scientific innovation competitions.
