On March 2, Amy Malcolm, Vice President of Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in New Zealand, led a delegation to visit SCUT. Vice President Xu Yong met with the guests at the Guangzhou International Campus, where they engaged in in-depth discussions on expanding multi-field cooperation and cultivating international engineers.

Discussion and Exchange

Xu Yong outlined the university's progress in enhancing internationalization through the dual-track initiative of Double First-Class and the development of the Guangzhou International Campus. He noted that both universities excel in practice-oriented science and engineering education with highly aligned development strategies, expressing hope for mutual learning and joint exploration of innovative engineering education models.

Malcolm congratulated SCUT on its achievements, commended the educational philosophy and outcomes of the Guangzhou International Campus, and outlined her university's cooperation with China. She expressed willingness to promote faculty and student exchanges and joint research, expressing strong confidence in the prospects for collaboration in engineering and technology.

The meeting proposed leveraging SHIEN-MING WU School of Intelligent Engineering to expand joint training and research collaborations, including exploring the establishment of a joint laboratory. It also suggested facilitating connections between the National School of Excellence in Engineering and Auckland University of Technology to pioneer new models of industry-education integration between China and New Zealand. SCUT further invited AUT students to participate in this year's “SCUT Global Summer School on Emerging Engineering” at the Guangzhou International Campus to enhance youth exchanges.
