To promote the global expansion of Institute for Excellent Engineers and deepen educational cooperation with key partner countries of the Belt and Road Initiative, a delegation led by Dr. Zhang Xichun, Chancellor of South China University of Technology (SCUT), visited Peru,Turkey and Brazil from October 24 to November 2. During the visit, the delegation inaugurated the China-Peru Institute for Excellent Engineers and expanded collaboration with several renowned universities in Turkey and Brazil, achieving fruitful results.


The inauguration ceremony of the China-Peru Institute for Excellent Engineers was held at the National University of San Marcos in Peru. In his keynote speech, Chancellor Zhang Xichun emphasized that the establishment of the institute is a significant initiative by SCUT to implement the Belt and Road Initiative and contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind. He stated that SCUT will collaborate with China Southern Power Grid International Company Limited, Peru Boluz Energy S.A., and the National University of San Marcos to create a strategic platform for Peru that integrates talent cultivation, technological research & development, and market expansion.

Following the inauguration ceremony, Chancellor Zhang Xichun held friendly talks with the university’s president, Dr. Jeri Ramón, and other representatives. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on various collaborative efforts, including talent cultivation, university-enterprise cooperation, and the joint establishment of a Confucius Institute. They agreed to mutually promote the development of Institute for Excellent Engineers and the Confucius Institute, cultivating a large number of local engineering talents in Peru who are proficient in Chinese and familiar with Chinese culture.
During their stay in Peru, the delegation also visited the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Peru and Peru Boluz Energy S.A. Additionally, Chancellor Zhang Xichun met with representatives from the National University of Callao to explore potential cooperation in fields such as Mechanical Engineering, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, and Marine Engineering.

In Turkey, the delegation visited Istanbul Technical University and Boğaziçi University, holding discussions with the university leadership.

In Brazil, the delegation visited the University of Campinas and the University of São Paulo, engaging in friendly talks to further strengthen inter-university cooperation. The delegation paid a visit to the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in São Paulo. During the trip, Chancellor Zhang Xichun met with representatives from Huawei’s European Regional Headquarters in Turkey and BYD’s Brazil headquarters, and met with local Chinese scholars, experts, and alumni representatives of SCUT.
