On 16 October, a delegation from the National University of Singapore(NUS), consisting of President Tan Eng Chye, Honorary Senior Vice-Chancellor Hang Chang Chieh, and Associate Vice-Chancellor George Loh, visited South China University of Technology. President Tang Hongwu received the guests.

President Tang Hongwu noted that since establishing institutional cooperation in 2024 under the witness of the education ministers of China and Singapore, the two universities have seen increasingly frequent interactions and expanded collaboration across broader fields. Bilateral student exchanges have grown in scale, while scientific and talent cooperation has reached new levels of depth, elevating comprehensive collaboration to unprecedented heights. Marking the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore, he expressed hope that both institutions would take this milestone as a new starting point to deepen practical cooperation in areas such as faculty and student exchanges, joint research, and the commercialization of scientific achievements, thereby jointly advancing the development of higher education in both nations and contribute to the progress of human civilization.

Tan Eng Chye reviewed the progress achieved in the partnership between the two institutions. He expressed the National University of Singapore's willingness to deepen its partnership with SCUT, focusing on advancing practical cooperation in areas such as high-level talent cultivation, joint development of teaching and research resources, practical training for management personnel, and the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements. Together, they will strive to enhance the substance and effectiveness of their collaboration.
