The Institute of Emergent Elastomers (IEE) was established in 2022, led by Academician Liqun Zhang and Professor Baochun Guo. It is a university-level research institute at South China University of Technology.

Infrastructure &Team:

The institute has established an innovative team of talents and an advanced research platform, including 10 full-time faculty members and nearly a hundred master's and doctoral students. The institute operates over 3,000 m² facilities equipped with advanced instruments for material processing, synthesis, characterization, and pilot-scale experiments.

Collaborations:

It has established joint laboratories with several leading domestic enterprises in the industry and stable academic cooperation with numerous research institutions both domestically and internationally. In collaboration with local governments, it has established the Huangpu Green Advanced Materials Technology Research Institute.

Achievements:

The IEE has published over 200 papers in internationally renowned journals, obtained dozens of patents, and published three monographs. It is an integral part of Guangdong Basic Research Center of Excellence for Energy & Information Polymer Materials.

Adhering to the four-pronged comprehensive strategy, the IEE strives to build a world-class rubber material research force, create cutting-edge elastomeric materials and products, support the high-quality development of the rubber industry, and serve the national strategic needs and the common destiny of humanity.
