The Sino-EU Engineering Education Platform (SEEEP) was initiated by the Chinese Ministry of Education (MoE). In September 2010, the MoE and the Consortium Linking Universities of Science and Technology for Education and Research (CLUSTER) co-signed the Memorandum of Understanding for Sino-European Engineering Education. Eighteen Chinese and twelve European universities joined the SEEEP to promote the long-term stable collaboration between institutions of engineering in China and Europe encompassing the following areas: talent cultivation, teacher training, development of pedagogic materials, and scientific research. The Secretariat for the SEEEP is set up at Tongji University in Shanghai.
ASRTU, established in December 2010, is a non-governmental organization formed by elite engineering universities of China and Russia on a voluntary basis. It is also a platform for effective communication in higher education under the framework of the China-Russia Committee on Humanities Cooperation. The aim of ASRTU is to assemble Sino-Russian elite technical universities, foster high-quality talents, promote Sino-Russian talents communication and scientific cooperation, and accelerate the mutual development of an innovative economy.
ASEAN-China Network for Cooperation and Exchanges among Engineering and Technology Universities (ACNET-EngTech), founded in September 2014, is joined by the nine elite Chinese engineering universities of the Excellent Alliance of Universities (E9) and eight universities from ASEAN countries. This network aims at establishing a network for cooperation and exchange in research, innovation and talent cultivation between China and ASEAN countries.
The UK-China University Consortium on Engineering Education and Research (UCEER), launched by Southeast University and Queen’s University Belfast, is comprised of the nine Chinese engineering universities of the Excellent Alliance of Universities (E9) and nine UK universities of the Russel Group. At the fifth meeting of the UK-China High-Level People to People Dialogue held in December 2017, Southeast University and Queen’s University Belfast signed the Joint Declaration on establishing a UK-China University Consortium on Engineering Education and Research, which signifies the establishment of UCEER. This Consortium aims at enhancing the cooperation in higher education, scientific research and innovation between Chinese and UK universities.
