Dear Faculty, Alumni, and Corporate Researchers,
With strong support from the governments of Guangdong province and Guangzhou municipality, Guangzhou International Campus has been actively promoting the establishment of seven major interdisciplinary public platforms. To provide faculty, students and other researchers with a comprehensive understanding of the platforms, the University will continue to host the “GZIC Platforms Sharing Promotion” seminar series. These sessions serve as a window to facilitate open access to shared resources and support collaborative research and development.
This seminar will be conducted in the form of an on-site visit and exchange, offering an in-depth introduction to the types and functions of available equipment, modes of access, cooperation mechanisms, and procedures for booking and use of the platform under the Center for Electron Microscopy.

Introduction to the Center for Electron Microscopy
Established in March 2023, the Center for Electron Microscopy is dedicated to the development of advanced high-resolution electron microscopy methodologies and their application in materials science, nanotechnology, soft matter and industrial research. As an open scientific research platform integrating advanced hardware facilities with strong software and methodological development capabilities, the Center focuses on several major research directions, including low-dose high-resolution imaging, four-dimensional scanning transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution holography and electromagnetic imaging, in-situ electron microscopy, three-dimensional electron diffraction, and atomic-resolution electron tomography.
The Center operates a comprehensive suite of state-of-the-art microscopes that provide unique insights into the atomic world. The major instruments include double spherical aberration-corrected transmission electron microscope (Spectra 300), field-emission transmission electron microscopes (Talos F200C and Talos F200X), dual-beam focused ion beam systems (Helios 5 Hydra UX and Helios 5 CX), high-resolution scanning electron microscopes (Verios 5 UC and Quattro S), and X-ray microscopy (Xradia 610 Versa). These instruments are further complemented by a broad range of sample preparation equipment. Of particular importance, the Center is equipped with a complete series of in-situ specimen holders covering gas/liquid environment, temperature control, electrical biasing, magnetic fields, mechanical loading, and optical excitation. These capabilities enable real-time observation of material dynamics at atomic resolution under realistic working environments or extreme service conditions. Together with advanced precision sample preparation capabilities, the Center serves as a multidimensional, cross-scale, one-stop platform for structural observation and analysis, spanning length scales from the picometer to the micrometer range.
The Center consistently upholds the principles of “Openness, Sharing, Innovation, and Service” and is fully accessible to faculty members and students of the University, as well as external collaborators. It has established a tiered technical support system ranging from basic operation training and independent user certification to advanced methodology development and joint research projects. Whether for newcomers entering the field of electron microscopy or experienced research teams addressing complex characterization challenges, the Center for Electron Microscopy is committed to providing precise, efficient, and full-chain technical support through its world-class instrumentation platforms, professional technical team, and open collaborative spirit.
