Academic Visit of Dr. Viduranga Waisundara from Rajarata University of Sri Lanka

In 2018, during the period from the end of May to the middle of June, Dr. Viduranga Waisundara from Rajarata University of Sri Lanka had visited School of Food Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology. After that, they had visited the campus of the Wushan and Universities Town.

    

On the afternoon of June 4th, Dr. Waisundara gave a presentation titled “Usage of Kombucha ‘Tea Fungus’ Biofilm for Obtaining Function Beverages” in Room 408 of Building No.13. During the presentation, Dr. Waisundara introduced the latest research process, and combined with her own experiences of study in Singapore, to share the school campus life abroad and preparation work in notice. After that she was patient to answer questions asked by the students.

    

On June 8th, Dr. Waisundara presented a public seminar with the topic as < Kombucha 'Tea Fungus' Biofilm - Collaboration Research Perspectives > in Dongtang Hall of Building No. 13. The forum was hosted by Dr. Zhenbo Xu. During the presentation, Dr. Waisundara gave an introduction on her research of Kombucha with tea fungus by employing a vivid picture to illustrate formation of microbial biofilm in tea soup.

After the lecture, Dr. Waisundara discussed the potential problems of the current research and give advices and techniques to solve it. Besides, the visit of Dr. Waisundara would provide an excellent opportunity to cooperate with each other, improving the academic and scientific research capacity of students. (by Jian Miao)
