On May 19, the opening ceremony of Food Nutrition and Human Health Overseas Expertise Introduction Center for Discipline Innovation(111 Center) and National Joint Research Center for Tropical Health Food(International Science and Technology Cooperation Base)was held by School of Science and Engineering. Vice President of the SCUT ,Yechun Wu, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering，Director of the international academic committee of the Base,Baoguo Sun attended the ceremony  and made speeches.

        Yechun Wu said many pleasant events took places in May. The Guangzhou International Campus was just found, and two national international bases for food science and engineering are to open today. And in the report of the 19th CPC National Congress,the “healthy China” was submitted, which concerns the lives of 1.3 billion people. In order to satisfy this major demand of our country ,the bases should provide more innovative results and promote further development of the food industry. At the same time, during the important period of “Double First Class Discipline”, the School of Science and Engineering should strive for a better school as the foundation of two bases were established. Engaging in  scientific research on the international front and promoting the transformation of high level scientific and technological achievements were expected. Therefore, the goal of building a world-class university will be within reach in the years to come.

        Academician Sun gave a brief information on the base. He acknowledged the combination of two great national research bases and looked forward to the great impacts the base would conduct on food industry and the school itself. He willed to pour strength and intelligence in the base.

       Due to expectations from Chairman Xi Jinping and Vice President of Education Du Zhanyuan, SCUT would continue to strive for better education and technology with the foundation of this base and more fruitful accomplishments to come.(By Chenchen Jia)
