On April 6thand 14nd 2017,Dr. Peters, a Associate Professor from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, had visited School of Food Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology, and presented two public seminars with the topic as Problems and Challenges of Food Biotechnologyand Pathogenesis of Foodborne Microorganisms.
Dr. Peters was invited by Prof. Lin Li, Prof. Bing Li and Dr. Zhenbo Xu from School of Food Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology. And his work focuses on the biofilm and pathogenesis of the microorganisms (especially Candida albicans) which earns him the reputation of the related fields.
During the presentation, Dr. Peters shared the biofilm of foodborne pathogens, the present situation of the Candida albicans biofilm research, the role of transcriptomics in immunomodulation for microorganism of different states and typical foodborne diseases with the audience. And then he employed a video of the model of the phenotype and interactions between Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans biofilm, making the graduates know that the international forefront of biofilm of foodborne pathogens and greatly broadening their horizon.
After that Dr. Peters answered the students’ questions and gave his advices about how to deal with the difficulties they came across in their researches. Both Dr. Peters and the audience found it meaningful to attend the lecture. (by Zerong Lu)
