The Molecular Enzymology and Engineering International Cooperation Base, a provincial international science and technology cooperation base was approved by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology recently.
The base will be led by the South China University of Technology (SCUT), and the School of Food Science and Engineering will be the corresponding unit for its running. Professor Wang Yonghuan, Vice Dean of the School is the director of the Base. The oversea participants include the NMR Research Center of Technical University of Munich, German and the Technische Universiteit Delft, Netherland. The research of the Base will start from the value-added utilization of by-products in food processing using enzymatic methods, and bio-transformation of lipid and natural product. The final goal is to establish a platform for the research and application of enzymes and to promote the development of the related industries through integration of the advantages of three members.
The base belongs to a batch of new international science and technology cooperation base of Guangdong Province, which will be cultivated and developed to national-level cooperation bases. The goal is to promote international cooperation in science and technology within a single project to a ‘projects-talents-cooperation bases’ multi-model and to establish long-term strategic partnership with oversea institutes.(by Peng-Zhan Liu)
