The 108th AOCS Annual Meeting and Industry Showcases (2017) was held in Rosen Shingle Creek, Orlando, Florida, USA from April 30th to May 3rd. Prof. Long Yu and Prof. Guoqin Liu from School of Food Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology were invited as the session chairmen for the Green Chemical Session and the Oleochemicals Session, respectively. PhD student Weiwei Cheng, who is under the direction of Prof. Liu also attended the conference. In the case, Prof. Yu gave a speech of the new development of starch-based materials. Moreover, two abstract submissions from Prof. Liu, “Effect of Oil Oxidation on Glycidyl Ester Formation Involved in Radical-mediated Mechanisms in Refined Oil” and “Relationship Between Malondialdehyde Formation and Reduction of Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids in Vegetable Oil” had been reviewed and selected for a poster presentation.
