Prof. Chii-Wann Lin Visited Our School

On 12th and13th of April, Prof. Chii-Wann Lin, a full Professor from Taiwan University, had visited School of Food Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology, and presented two public seminars with the topic as Rapid detection of pathogenic microorganisms of different states-SPR sensor and Biosensor and its application on food borne pathogens.

Prof. Lin was invited by Prof. Lin Li, Prof. Bing Li and Dr. Zhenbo Xu from School of Food Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology. And his work focuses on the detectors of the microorganisms which earns him the reputation of the related fields.

During the presentation, Prof. Lin shared the principle of SPR sensor, the present situation of the biosensor research, rapid detection methods for microorganism of different states and the principle of SPR sensor with the audience, as well as its application on foodborne pathogens. And then he employed a simulation software for on-site operation, making the graduate know that the international forefront of detection methods and broadening their horizon. After that Prof. Lin answered the students’ questions and gave his advices about how to deal with the difficulties they came across in their researches. Both Prof. Lin and the audience found it meaningful to attend the lecture.(by Zhenbo Xu)
