Lecture Title:Approaches to develop plant-derived functional materials: Carbohydrate chemistry and (bio)engineering

 Time:16:00pm, May 8, 2015

Location:Rm 306, State Key Lab. of Pulp and Paper Engineering

Chunlin Xu is a docent (Adjunct Professor) at AAU. He received his PhD in chemical engineering from AAU, Finland in 2008. His PhD research focused on forest products chemistry, including analytical chemistry, and colloid and surface chemistry of biopolymers.  Afterwards he worked as a chemist in the Innovation Center of Ciba Specialty Chemicals to develop novel synthetic polymers for water and paper treatments. He then worked as post-doctoral research fellow with Prof. Harry Brumer at the School of Biotechnology and Wallenberg Wood Science Center, KTH the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden and developed carbohydrate bioengineering approaches for functionalization of various biomasses. In late 2011, he re-joined AAU to carry out research in biorenewable materials with focus on development of biobased functional materials towards various high-end applications.
