Recently, the Guangdong Provincial Association for Science and Technology announced the decision to commend the winners of the 17th Guangdong Ding Ying Science and Technology Award. Professor Ye Daiqi of our school has been awarded the 17th Guangdong Ding Ying Science and Technology Award. Professor Ye is the third faculty member in our school recieving this honor.

The Guangdong Ding Ying Science and Technology Award is a science and technology award established in 1989 with the approval of the provincial government and in the name of the renowned scientist and academician Ding Ying. Its aim is to inherit and carry forward the spirit and excellent characteristics of Ding Ying academician, a famous scientist in China, and to inspire young and middle-aged sciencists and engineers in Guangdong Province to contribute to scientific research and education for reinvigorating China. The award recognizes and rewards young talents who have made outstanding contributions to the economic construction, social development, and scientific and technological progress of Guangdong Province, and promotes the growth of outstanding academic and technical leaders among young and middle-aged researchers.

Winners of the Ding Ying Science and Technology Award in our school include:

- Ye Daiqi, Professor, who has won the 17th Guangdong Ding Ying Science and Technology Award. His research mainly focuses on strategies for air pollution prevention and control, functional materials, technological equipment, and standard specifications and documentations. He has developed molded adsorption materials with high hydrophobicity and high adsorption capacity, and integral catalytic materials with low load and high activity, achieving large-scale preparation and application of those materials. He has also developed pollution control technology and equipment that have reached internationally advanced levels. In the past five years, he has received the first prize of the Guangdong Science and Technology Progress Award (Ranked 1st), the first prize of the Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award (Ranked 2nd), and the China Invention Association Invention Entrepreneurship Project Glod Award (Ranked 1st). He has been granted the Special Allowance of the State Council, and has completed 38 projects including the National Key R&D Program,The National Science and Technology Key Project for Coordinated PM2.5 and O3 Pollution Control, the National Natural Science Foundation Projects, and commissioned projects from enterprises and institutions. He has published 173 high-level papers in journals such as Environ. Sci. Technol., Appl. Catal. B, JACS, and China Environmental Science, and has written 3 books. He has applied /granted 63/36 patents. He has formulated 11 VOC-related standards (2 national standards, 5 industry standards, and 4 local standards).

- Dang Zhi, Professor, who has won the 16th Guangdong Ding Ying Science and Technology Award. He has long been engaged in theoretical research and technological development related to environmental geochemistry and biogeochemical processes of heavy metals and harmful elements in ecological systems of mining areas, remediation of heavy metal and organic pollutant-contaminated soils, and mining environmental governance. He has been granted the Special Allowance of the State Council. He was the PI of 1 project of the National Key R&D Program, 3 key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, 1 key International Cooperation Project, 1 key project of the Guangdong Provincial Key Area Research and Development Program, and more than 50 other national and provincial projects, and has obtained a series of important research achievements. In the past five years, he has published more than 280 academic papers in Chinese and English, including more than 240 SCI papers, with a total citation of more than 2200. He has published 5 monographs. He has been granted more than 40 national invention patents, 3 PCT patents, and 2 U.S. patents. He was awarded the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2017, the first prize of the Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Award (Ranked the first) in 2011, and the title of 'Most Beautiful Science and Technology Worker in Guangdong' in 2022. He has also made breakthrough achievements in the construction of high-level scientific research teams, and the pollution control and remediation team in mining areas has been approved as a Local Innovation Team in Guangdong Province.

- Wan Jinquan, Professor, has won the 15th Guangdong Ding Ying Science and Technology Award. He has long been engaged in the research on pulping and papermaking, and has proposed a set of new theories and technologies for short-cut, low-consumption, and advanced treatment and resource utilization of papermaking wastewater, such as‘Carbon source synergistic metabolism biotreatment of persistent organic pollutants in wastewater',Embedded three-layer network control of wastewater treatment systems',Ethanol fermentation-based multi-point reflux IC anaerobic biotreatment technology' and PS-based heterogeneous acid-free advanced oxidation technology'. These technological achievements have been applied in more than 100 papermaking wastewater treatment engineering projects nationwide. He is a Fellow of the International Academy of Wood Science, enjoys the Special Allowance of the State Council, and has been awarded the National Outstanding Science and Technology Worker Award. He has won the first China Papermaking Cailun Science and Technology Award, the Guangdong May 1st Labor Medal, and the Guangdong Outstanding Patent Inventor. He has undertaken more than 30 national and provincial research projects, including the National Key R&D Program, the major special project for water pollution control, the National 863' Program, and the National Natural Science Foundation. He has published more than 300 academic papers, including over 240 SCI papers, with a total citation of more than 2200. He has been granted more than 56 patents (including 3 U.S. patents). He has published 6 monographs. As the first contributor, he has won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the first prize of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award, the first prize of the China Light Industry Federation Technology Invention Award, the Chinese Patent Excellence Award, the Guangdong Provincial Patent Gold Award, and the second prize of the Ministry of Education Natural Science Award, totaling 13 scientific and technological awards.
