On March 7nd, 2023, the Technical Committee Meeting of the National Engineering Laboratory of VOCs Pollution Control Technology and Equipment (referred to as: VOCs National Engineering Laboratory) and the Academic Committee Meeting of Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Atmospheric Environment and Pollution Control (referred to as: Provincial Key Laboratory) were held in Guangzhou.

The meeting was attended by more than 40 participants, including invited experts such as Academician Hao Jiming from Tsinghua University, Academician Chen Kefu from South China University of Technology, Academician Tao Shu from Peking University/Southern University of Science and Technology, Academician Hou Li'an from the Rocket Force University of Engineering, Academician Liu Wenqing from Anhui Institute Of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Researcher Chen Yunfa from the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Li Junhua from Tsinghua University, Professor Xiao Fengshou from Zhejiang University, and Professor Xiao Fengcai from Jiji University. Professor Xiao Fengcai of Zhejiang University, Professor Shao Min of Jinan University, Professor Ouyang Gangfeng of Sun Yat-sen University, Professor Zhang Densong of Shanghai University, etc. The meeting was also attended by Zhu Min, Vice President of South China University of Technology, Lin Yiwen, Executive Vice President of Institute of Science and Technology, Zhu Nengwu, Executive Vice President of School of Environment and Energy and related key teachers, as well as 10 representatives of VOCs National Engineering Laboratory Vice-Chairman units.

The meeting was co-chaired by Academician Hao Jiming from Tsinghua University and Professor Ye Daiqi, Director of VOCs National Engineering Laboratory. During the meeting, Zhu Min, Vice President of South China University of Technology, delivered a speech.

After that, Professor Wu Junliang, Executive Deputy Director of VOCs National Engineering Laboratory and Professor Fu Mingli, Director of Provincial Key Laboratory reported on the progress of VOCs National Engineering Laboratory and Provincial Key Laboratory in 2022 and their future work plans respectively. The experts and the representatives of the Vice-Chairman of VOCs National Engineering Laboratory carried out a heated discussion and put forward constructive suggestions and opinions on the future development of the laboratory, especially on team building, transformation of results, technology promotion and optimization and integration of VOCs National Engineering Laboratory.

Finally, Academician Hao Jiming concluded that the control of VOCs is a major national demand, South China University of Technology should give full play to its expertise and advantages in VOCs control and other aspects, strengthen the deep integration and development of VOCs national engineering laboratory and provincial key laboratories, form an overall solution of a typical industry and carry out technology promotion, expand from industrial action to regional action and continue to promote across the country. At the same time, more focuses are needed on multi-dimensional integrated development to provide more powerful support for national air pollution control.

The meeting is important to further promote the optimization and integration of the National Engineering Laboratory of VOC Pollution Control Technology and Equipment and the construction and development of Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Atmospheric Environment and Pollution Control, and to accelerate the exchange between the academic community and the industry.
