In order to alleviate the pressure of VOCs environmental pollution in Guangdong Province and promote the high-quality development of automobile maintenance industry, the first batch of local standard and revised projects in Guangdong Province in 2021 were announced by Guangdong Administration for Market Regulation, and the emission standard of air pollutants for automobile maintenance industry in Guangdong Province was approved. On the afternoon of December 7, 2021, South China University of Technology hosted the kick-off meeting for the formulation of Emission Standards of Air Pollutants for Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Industry. Experts from various participating units, research institutes, universities and enterprises with demand of Guangqi Honda Automobile Co.,Ltd., Guangzhou Quality Supervision and Testing Institute, Guangzhou Environmental Protection Industry Association and Guangdong Road Transport Association attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the working group on standardization reported the current situation of the automobile maintenance and repair industry in Guangdong Province, the research content of this standardization and the organization and division of labor. It is planned to carry out standardization from the aspects of data investigation, field survey and on-site monitoring, and complete the identification of important pollution projects, determination of pollutant limits, evaluation of control technology, and preparation of relevant reports and the standards and specifications for each stage.

After listening to the report of the working group, the participating experts put forward targeted suggestions from the organizational structure of the participating units, the research content of the standardization and the preparation, emphasizing that the formulation of standards should take into account both the environmental and economic effects.
