The Science and Technology Development Center of the Ministry of Education appointed Professor Liu Wenqi of University of Science and Technology of China, Researcher Wang Yanhong of Institute of Ecology of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Senior engineer Zhang Lingfan of East China University of Science and Technology as the certification accreditation expert group of inspection and testing institutions to conduct expansion review of the 'National Engineering Laboratory of VOC pollution control technology and equipment' of South China University of technology On December 24-25, 2020. The expanded qualification assessment involves three test categories, including ambient air, exhaust gas from fixed pollution sources and material performance, with a total of 114 items.

The on-site review meeting for the qualification expansion of inspection and testing institutions was held in the School of Environment and Energy of South China University of Technology. Zhu Min, Vice President of SCUT, Ling Gui, Deputy Director of Science and Technology Division of SCUT, Yin Zi, Deputy Director of Equipment Division of SCUT, Xiao Sa, Deputy Director of Management Committee Office of University Town Campus of SCUT, and others attended the meeting. Ye Daiqi, Dean of School of Environment and Energy and Director of National Engineering Laboratory of Volatile Organic Pollutant Treatment Technology and Equipment presided over the meeting.

According to the “general requirements for qualification evaluation of inspection and testing institutions”, “supplementary requirements for qualification evaluation of ecological environment monitoring institutions” and other relevant rules, the expert group reviewed the organization, personnel, management system, document control, inspection and testing level and ability and other elements for laboratory system construction by listening, seeing, asking, checking, testing and evaluation.

After two days of on-site data audit and operation audit, the expert group agreed that the quality manual and procedure documents established by the National Engineering Laboratory for VOC pollution control technology and equipment were complete, the on-site operation was standardized, and the test results were accurate. They agreed to pass the laboratory qualification extension review, and also put forward some rectification opinions.

The National Engineering Laboratory of VOCs Pollution Control Technology and Equipment passed the qualification assessment of inspection and testing institutions in March 2019, and provides inspection and testing services for VOCs in environmental air and pollution sources. This expansion will fully cover the inspection and testing range of VOCs and further enhance its service capability. In the future, according to the operating requirements of the laboratory management system, it will provide scientific, rigorous and professional inspection and testing services for the School and the society.
