He also emphasized the discipline optimization of Environmental Geosciences and the development priority in the future.
The three themed branch venues in this conference were held simultaneously in the afternoon of November 7th.
The theme of the first sub-meeting was 'Treatment and Pollution Control of the Mining Wastewater and Waste Residue'. The conveners were Professor Zhou Lixiang from Nanjing Agricultural University and Professor Guo Huaming from China University of Geosciences (Beijing). 13 scholars, from Peking University, Central South University, Huazhong Agricultural University and two related outstanding companies were invited to give oral presentations. The students and teachers at the meeting all responded enthusiastically. They actively communicated and discussed with the presenters about the theme, exchanged the views of important progresses in this field and discussed the future development direction.
The theme of the second sub-meeting was 'Ecological Restoration and Environmental Supervision of Mining Wasteland'. The conveners were Professor Shu Wensheng from South China Normal University and Professor Yao Jun from China University of Geosciences (Beijing). 12 scholars, from Tsinghua University, the Eco-Environment Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, South China Normal University and other universities and research institutes, were invited to give oral reports. The teachers and students on site actively communicated and asked questions, which brought new perspectives and ideas for the ecological restoration of mines and environmental supervision.
The theme of the third session was 'Remediation of Heavy Metal Pollution in Mining Areas and Surrounding Farmlands'. The conveners were Professor Pan Bo from Kunming University of Science and Technology and Researcher Wu Longhua from the Nanjing Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. 12 researchers, from China University of Geosciences (Beijing), Tianjin University, the Institute of Eco-Environmental and soil sciences, Guangdong Academy of Sciences, and other universities and research institutes, were invited to give oral reports. The meeting enjoyed a heated discussion and the attendees felt that they had benefited a lot.
In the conference report held in the morning of November 8th, Professor Ma Qiying from Zhejiang University, Professor Chen Jiubin from Tianjin University, Professor Jia Yongfeng from Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Researcher Ma Jingyuan from Shanghai Institute for Advanced Study, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Researcher Liu Tongxu from Institute of Eco-Environmental and Soil Sciences, Guangdong Academy of Sciences, Chief Engineer Xie Yun, Soil Remediation Division of Guangxi Boschke Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., Professor Qu Jianhua from Northeast Agricultural University, Professor Guo Huaming from China University of Geosciences (Beijing), Professor Shi Zhenqing from South China University of Technology, Professor Feng Xinbin from Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc. delivered relevant reports. After the conference report, Professor Pan Bo from Kunming University of Science and Technology presided over the closing ceremony and prize-awarding ceremony.
In order to promote the improvement of the research level in the field of Mine Environmental pollution and restoration, enhance academic exchanges, and encourage the high-standard and high-quality postgraduate academic reports, this seminar established a postgraduate forum and set up the 'Outstanding Report Award' and 'Expression Standard Award'. A total of 38 graduate students gave academic reports. The “Outstanding Report Award” recognizes those graduate students who works hard, strives for perfection and innovation on the path of academic research. The “Expression Standard Award” emphases the rigorous attitude and careful preparation, hoping to arouse more attention and thinking to 'academic standards' and creating a more standardized academic research environment. After the evaluation by the judges and on-site voting, 10 'Excellent Report Award' and 10 'Expression Standard Award' were selected respectively. Among the reporters, Ding Yang, Feng Shihui, Li Xiaofei, Lu Jingli, Pan Jiafeng, Yao Qian, Yi Peng, Zhang Jiaxi , Zheng Xiongkai, Zhu Ziyang received the 'Excellent Report Award', and Li Xiaofei, Pan Jiafeng, Wang Heng, Wang Yumeng, Yao Dongju, Yu Xianan, Zheng Jin, Zhou Yuchen, Zhou Yuxing, and Zhu Ziyang received the 'Expression Standard Award'. It is worth mentioning that Li Xiaofei from South China University of Technology, Pan Jiafeng from the Institute of Eco-Environmental and Soil Sciences, Guangdong Academy of Sciences and Zhu Ziyang from Kunming University of Science and Technology won two awards at the same time, representing the highest level of student report in the Graduate Forum.
After the prize-awarding ceremony, Professor Dang Zhi, who was the convener of the conference on mining environmental pollution and restoration academic conference, announced the successful conclusion of the conference. He sincerely thanked the attendees for their coming and support to this conference, the speakers for sharing their research at this conference, and the volunteers and conference staffs for their hard work.
