On the morning of August 22, the signing and unveiling ceremony of strategic cooperation between South China University of Technology (SCUT) and the Midea Group was solemnly held at the School of Environment and Energy. Zhu Min, Vice President of South China University of Technology and Xu Chengmao, Dean of Central Institute of the Midea Group, participated the Innovation Technology Center of Environmental Energy and Health (ITCEEH) on behalf of both sides, which represents a closer cooperation between the two sides.

Firstly, Jiang Hai, the Director of Science and Technology Achievement Conversion Office, introduced the developments and outstanding achievements of the school in teaching, research and industrialization to the guests. He pointed out that the Midea Group and South China University of Science and Technology jointly set up an innovation Consortium of teaching, research and industrialization, which is of great significance to promote the institutional construction of scientific and technological innovation between the two sides and to carry out research of core technologies. Hoping that both sides will continue to stimulate innovation, cultivate compound innovative talents and export innovative research results with the potential future application as a traction.

Subsequently, Zhu Min, the Vice President of SCUT, said that in recent years, more than 30 cooperation projects have been built between the two sides, and that the bridge of teaching-research-industry cooperation between famous universities and big enterprises has already been erected. He hoped that through the joint innovation center to actively explore and vigorously develop the new technology market, makes the Midea Group from manufacturing to intelligent. Providing a strong support for Midea Group’s construction goal of Global Science and Technology Group.

He said: With the research strength and conditions of SCUT, we will build the ITCEEH into an important platform for both sides to research cutting-edge issues, cultivate talents, cooperate in research, and develop and share resources.

Prof. Ye Daiqi, the Dean of School of Environment and Energy, introduced the development history, faculty, research ability and research field of our school. He hoped to promote the development of environmental energy and health technology by combining the research advantages of SCUT and product R&D capability of Midea Group.

According to Yao Ping, Director of User and Innovation Research Institute of Midea Group, the ITCEEH will focus on the innovation and application of healthy air environment, healthy diet, new energy, new materials and new technologies on smart home appliances, and gradually achieve the goal of building the joint innovation center into an international first-class research institute and teaching-research-industry cooperation model, to provide consumers with a better healthy life experience.

The successful unveiling of the ITCEEH marks an important step in the strategic cooperation between the Midea Group and SCUT. The two sides will further deepen cooperation based on the strategic cooperation agreement. Through that strong cooperation, complementary advantages and mutual promotion, they will continue to promote the health technology system, technology research and industrial development, to provide consumers with better products and services.
After the ceremony, under the chairmanship of Prof. Chen Yan, Director of the ITCEEH, more than ten professors from the School of Environment and Energy, School of Food Science and Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering and Automobile; and the experts from the Central Institute of the Midea Group have conducted in-depth technical discussions. A large number of opportunities have been found in the terms of atmospheric environment, water treatment, materials, machinery, electronics and so on. And then the two sides will further carry out thematic technical discussions.
