School of Environmental Science and Engineering held a Laboratory safety educational training for the postgraduate freshmen of 2017

 In order to strengthen the management of laboratory safety and let the postgraduates of 2017 know the importance of laboratory safety and conduct experiments better and safer,  a laboratory safety educational training for the postgraduates was held by associate dean, Zhu Nengwu ,instructor of postgraduates, Chen Haowen and the laboratory safety officers at A1-302, HEMC campus on the afternoon of September 12th. More than 200 doctorate candidates and master candidates took part in the training.

 Associate dean, Zhu Nengwu  introduced the great attention the school pays to laboratory safety and listed some safety accidents caused by student’s violation operations in laboratory, which made students realized the importance of laboratory safety. He requested the students to followed the safety rules strictly during the use and management of laboratory, so as to prevent the occurrences of accidents.   

 Next, the laboratory safety officer explained the laboratory safety regulations of our school and our collage. He focused on the laboratory cautions, the management of dangerous chemicals, instrument operation instructions, laboratory electricity safety, laboratory fire prevention and personal protections to help freshmen build up strong safety consciousness in the use and management of laboratory.

     The training is an important part of postgraduate freshmen’s laboratory safety education of our school and is closely related to every postgraduate freshman’s  study and work in laboratory . Based on this, our school will develop the education of SCUT safety manual and use online tests in the future. The laboratory safety education includes laboratory safety training, laboratory accident emergency drilling and so on.
