At 9:00 am on October 18th , 2017, the faculty members of the Academy of Environment and Energy of South China University of Technology and the members of the Party School of the 2017 Master's Program were watching the opening ceremony of the 19th Chinese Communist Party ‘s Congress of National People in B4-102 and A5105 respectively, listening attentively to General Secretary Xi Jinping’ s report on the 19thChinese National People ‘s Congress.

Party comrades listened to the report attentively. The past five years have witnessed processive achievements and historic innovations in our work. The accomplishments within the past five years have been all-round and pioneering with the changes in the past five years being profound and fundamental. Whether it is proved by economic construction, deepening the reform comprehensively, administering the rule of law democratically, building ideology and culture, it is also embodied in many aspects from people's livelihood, the military rejuvenation, the work of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and the all-round diplomatic layout.

 General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in the report of the 19th Congress that we should accelerate the reform of the ecological civilization system and build a beautiful China. Xi Jinping mentioned that mankind and nature are communities of life and that mankind must respect nature while conforming to nature, protecting nature. Xi Jinping pointed out that the modernization we want to build is a modern and harmonious co-existence between man and nature. We must create more material wealth and spiritual wealth to meet people's growing needs for a better life and provide more qualified ecological products to meet people's growing needs for a beautiful ecological environment. We must adhere to the principle of giving priority to conservation, protection and making natural restoration the mainstay, forming a proper spatial pattern of industrial structure, mode of production and way of life for saving resources and protecting the environment to give back peace, beauty and harmony to nature. The first is to promote green development; the second project is to focus on solving the projecting environmental problems; the third is to increase the intensity of ecosystem protection; the last is to reform the regulatory system of ecological environment. Ecological civilized construction in the contemporary era benefits in the ages. We must firmly establish the socialist concept of ecological civilization, promoting the formation of a new pattern of harmonious development and modernization of the relationship between man and nature, making efforts of our generation to protect the ecological environment.

Professor Ren Yuan said that education undertakes the great task of cultivating talents in the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation. As university teachers, they should pay special attention in cultivating the world outlook, outlook on life and values of students in the process of training their talents and establishing cultural self-confidence of the Chinese nation. Professors themselves should pay efforts to improve their knowledge structure and teaching ability to promote the teaching of scientific research and participate in the examination reform and the establishment of a comprehensive assessment of the students’ learning process actively, cultivating qualified talents for our” Double Fist-Class” construction.

 Associate Professor Zhang Taiping said that Xi Jinping pointed out that the modernization we want to build is a harmonious symbiosis between man and nature. It is necessary to create more material and spiritual wealth to meet the people's growing needs for a better life and to provide more qualified ecological products to meet the growing people's  needs for a beautiful ecological environment. "As professional people in environmental engineering and ecology, we are excited and inspired by the wise decision-making and the right direction of the Central Government. We will devote ourselves fully into the modernization and environmental protection career and give full play to our professional expertise to guarantee the realization of China dream.

 Associate Professor Cheng Jianhua said that since the 18th CPC National Congress, our party and the country have made historic achievements, historic changes have taken place and the great practice of governing the country and the party under comrade Xi Jinping has encouraged Guangdong's party members, cadres and the masses to realize a well-to-do society, accelerating socialist modernization and practicing the China dream of Chinese nation’s great rejuvenation.

 At the same time, General Secretary Xi emphasized the importance of strengthening party leadership and party building in an all-round manner and change the relaxing and soft conditions in the party administration resolutely. We must persist in carrying out the party's mass line education practice and the "Three Strictnesses and Three Truths" special education , promoting the normalization and institutionalization of "Two studies and One education" learning and education, implementing the standards of good cadres in the new era, changing the employment status and ethos of selection, adhering to the ideals and beliefs of the entire party and strengthening party spirit.

 The opening report ended in applause. As General Secretary Xi emphasized at the beginning of the conference: "Do not forget the beginning of the world, bear in mind the mission, hold the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics highly, make a decisive contribution to building a well-to-do society in an all-round way and win the great victories of socialism with Chinese characteristics in a new era, realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, Chinese Dream with unremitting efforts. "The majority of college students and teachers will actively take the lead in paying attention to the latest progress of the 19th CPC National congress with practical actions to learn and important spirit to practice.”

 After the meeting, the student party branch demanded that every member should write down his ideological report and experience, deepening ideological education and enhancing the learning effect.
