At 14:30 on September 14, 2017, the opening ceremony of the 2017 freshmen of the School of Environment and Energy was held in A4-204. The host of the opening ceremony was Yaohua Wu, Assistant Party Committee Secretary. Guests included Dean Daiqi Ye, Party Committee Secretary Hangyu Chen, Assistant Dean Jiang Liu, Assistant Dean Zhang Lin and Assistant Dean Nengwu Zhu. The specially invited guests were Yuezhou Ou, President of Guangdong Environmental Protection Industry Association, Min Shao, Vice Dean, School of environmental science and engineering, Peking University, as well as faculty professors, head teachers of freshmen and various administrative staff.  

The ceremony was held punctually at 14:30. After a brief speech by the Assistant Party Committee Secretary Yaohua Wu, Dean Daiqi Ye delivered a speech on behalf of the college and introduced the general situation of the college.

 Dean Daiqi Ye patiently talked about the College's course of development, faculty, talent training, student activities and other aspects, and expressed ardent expectations for freshmen. After a burst of heavy applause, it’s worth believing that the freshmen have a deeper understanding of the college, and a more abundant expectations and confidence in the future of college life.

 Next, The specially invited guests Yuezhou Ou made a wonderful speech. He introduced the status and trends of the environmental protection industry as a starting point and introduced for the freshmen in detail from the aspects of promising development prospects, shortage of talents, attention of the government of the country and disappointment of the international environment, which gave freshmen a good perspective.

 Followed by Professor Shao Min’s speech, in the language full of academic breath, which combed the confusion of the University and guided direction of how to live through the colorful university life for freshmen, had won a burst of applause.

 On behalf of the teachers, Associate Professor Yingyi Zhang also made a brilliant speech. She congratulated to the new students, and reminded the attention. The last sincere wishes and sincere words were touching, which let freshmen yearn for the future of university life.

 Finally, Jiajun Huang, representative of undergraduates and Huangrui Liu, representative of graduates, delivered the speech. After expressing their congratulation and welcome, Jiajun Huang meticulously shared his own university experience, from consolidating the foundation and enjoying the challenge to interpersonal communication. Huangrui Liu expressed their new challenges they face and their ardent expectations and plans for future life. They are firmly determined to work hard and hopeful for the future.

 At this point, the opening ceremony of freshman completed successfully. The freshmen of grade 2017 officially became part of the School of Environment and Energy and would spend the next four years of hope. Hope that the freshmen in the teachers' earnest expectations, to enrich and happily spend the university life, be positive, work hard ahead, fly high and devote power for the environmental protection.
