Professor Shao Zongping of Nanjing University of Technology gave anacademic report in the School of Environment and Energy

On March 28th, 2017, invited by team of Energy storage and transformation, School of Environment and Energy, Professor Shao Zongping of Nanjing University of Technology gave an excellent academic report lecture entitled The application of ‘Perovskite materials’ in energy storage and environmental treatment . The lecture was chaired by Professor Liu Jiang, which attracted many teachers and graduate students.

ProfessorShao Zongping is a doctoralsupervisor, dean of the School of Energy of Nanjing University of Technology, permanent professor of State Key Laboratory of Materials-Oriented Chemical Engineering, core member of 2011 National Collaborative Innovation Center, Distinguished professor of John Curtin University in Australia, Huo Ying Tung Youth Fund winner, the New Century ExcellentTalents of the Ministry of Education, the National Fund for ** Scholars winner, ,the Chang Jiang Scholars.He is also a winner of the 6 High talent Peak (Class A) and 333 high-level talent plan (second level) in Jiangsu Province. Professor Shao engages in the research of new energy materials related to solid-state ions, such as fuel cells, super capacitors, lithium batteries, conductor separation membranes hydrogen energy, ORR,OER,HER, et al.He has published nearly 400 papers in Nature, Nature Energy, Nature Commun, EES, Prog. Mater. SCI., Chem Rew. Chem, Soc Rew, Adv Mater. AdvFunctMater.,AngewChimInt.Ed.,Adv.EnergyMater.,NanoLett. Small, Chem, Mater, et al, which quoted more than 14,000 times so far. He is among the 2014Thomoson Retuers Global High-cited scientists, topped 2015, 2016 Elsevier China High cited scholars in energy field, and 2016 Elsevier-Scopus Global high-cited scientists in energy engineering and materials science and engineering. He has supervisedover 100 doctors and masters, 75 of whicharegraduates and 39 are undergraduates. Nearly 10 people were awarded excellent doctor and master dissertation in Jiangsu Provinceone was awarded the national one hundred excellent doctoral dissertation.

Professor Shao Zongping's report focused on the application of perovskite in energy conversion and storage. The chemical formula of perovskite is ABO3, which is earliestfound in calcium titanium trioxide(CaTiO3). Professor Shao pointed out that perovskite has many advantages, such as good stability, high conductivity (such as SrCo0.95P0.05O3-δ K can be up to 200S/cm), good catalytic performance, the oxygen vacancies and conductivity can be increasedafter A or B doping. Therefore, this kind of material is regarded the focus of research. Professor Shao summarized the application of perovskite in his research work, respectively, for the cathode material of the solid oxide fuel cell, the electrocatalyst of the reduction reaction at ambient temperature, and the electrocatalyst of oxygen evolution reaction at ambient temperature, electrocatalysts of hydrogen evolution reaction at ambient temperature, anion-embedding electrode materials of supercapacitors, applications of dye-sensitive batteries, highefficiency catalysts for organic wastewater degradation, catalysts for sensors, all of these worksare breakthroughs and published in Nature, Science, Chemical Review, such high influential magazines, respectively.

At the end of the meeting, Professor Liu Jiang made a summary, the teachers and graduates from School of Environment and Energy actively asked questions. Professor Shao answered in details.. Professor Shao not only brought the international frontier knowledge, but also let us have a clearer understanding of empirical research. Students benefitedgreatly from this lecture.At last, we thank Professor Shao Zongping for this wonderful lecture.
