On December 5th, 2016, “The forum for outstanding young scholars from home and abroad” in South China University of Technology-the first sub-forum in 2016 for the school of Environmental and engineering was successfully held in South campus B4-102 meeting room. This forum invited overseas scholar- Doctor Hu Weiwei to do academic report.Head of the school of environment and energy and relevant professional teachers and students took part in this activity.

Doctor Hu Weiwei delivered an academic report about the formation and aging process of the bio-aerosol in the atmosphere, mainly reporting her research in University of Colorado at Boulder, which includes the field observation in the forest located in the south-eastern America as well as the Amazon region in Brazil. The results indicated that the contributions of the isoprene and monoterpene emissions from biogenic source to organic aerosol in the atmosphere under low NOx conditions. And it emphasizes the importance of semi-volatile organic compounds in the formation of the secondary organic aerosol (SOA). Also it explores the aging process of SOA from biogenic source, by using the experimental results of box-model and flow tube reactor. These results contribute to reducing the uncertainty of the global organic aerosol simulation, as well as enhancing the understanding of the influence that organic aerosol exert on the climate change.

The forum was filled with a strong academic atmosphere. The teachers and the reporter had a further exchange of discussion on their intereting research directions and problems. Everyone was very active at that time. Through this platfom, we can know the latest research results and research trends in the field of corresponding researches, which reflects the latest developments in these researches.
