The province's first Engineering Technology Research Center

With the mission of serving the high-quality development of the nation and Guangdong Province, the province's first Engineering Technology Research Center dedicated to large models and generative AI was established based on South China University of Technology. The center currently employs 24 R&D personnel, including 6 national-level talents, 5 provincial-level talents, 14 full professors, and 10 associate professors. Boasting robust research capabilities, the center has published over 400 papers in the past five years, secured 176 patents, undertaken 49 national and provincial major projects, and received more than 20 national, ministerial, and provincial-level scientific awards.

In the center's development, the guiding principle is to build a "research system for key technologies in large models and generative AI coupled with a multi-industry integration system." Its construction is organized around four key areas: "full-chain key technology development, multi-industry intelligent applications, industry-academia-research collaboration, and full-stack talent cultivation." The center strategically focuses on five core pillars: "massive computing power, big data, robust security, advanced algorithms, and multidisciplinary cross-application." This approach aims to enhance the technical capabilities of large models in computational efficiency, decision-making accuracy, and secure application. By integrating technological breakthroughs, platform applications, industry-academia-research collaboration, and talent development, the center seeks to deeply merge key technologies with advantageous industries, thereby accelerating the application and implementation of these technologies across various sectors in the Greater Bay Area .
