Tong Zhang is currently a professor, doctoral supervisor,and Associate Dean of the School of Computer Science and Engineering, SouthChina University of Technology. He is the recipient of the National NaturalScience Fund for Excellent Young Scholars and the Guangdong Natural ScienceFund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and was listed among the 2024 world’s top2% scientists. His research interests lie in the field of fundamental studiesand practical applications of artificial intelligence, including affectivecomputing and large language models. He has led over 20 projects, includingprojects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China or theNatural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, and collaboration projectswith enterprises. He has published over 170 academic papers, of which 10 arehighly cited papers. He has also filed over 100 patents, including 2 PCTpatents, with 30 patents granted. He is the Associate Editor of IEEETransactions on Affective Computing, IEEE Transactions on Computational SocialSystems, and Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, all of which are JCR Q1journals. Dr. Zhang is the Deputy Director of the Computational Social andSocial Intelligence Committee of the Chinese Association of Automation, and theDeputy Secretary-General of the Youth Working Committee. He is also the DeputyDirector of the Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education onHealth Intelligent Perception and Paralleled Digital-Human, and the DeputyDirector of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Computational AI Modelsand Cognitive Intelligence. He has received the First Prize of the Science andTechnology Progress Award of Guangdong Province, the 10th Wu Wenjun AIOutstanding Youth Award, the ACM Guangzhou Rising Star Award, and theFranklin V. Taylor Best Paper Award from the IEEE Systems, Man, and CyberneticsSociety. He has also guided students to win five National Gold Awards in thefinals of the China International College Students’“Internet+”Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
