 Biography:

Wei Jia, male, born in January 1982 in Yongxiu County, Jiangxi Province, is currently an Associate Professor and Master’s Supervisor at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology (SCUT). He also serves as a committee member of the Special Committee on Computing Power System Simulation, China Simulation Society. He received his B.Eng. (2003) and M.Eng. (2006) degrees in Computer Science and Technology from Harbin Institute of Technology, and his Ph.D. (2009) in Computer Application Technology from SCUT.


From 2004 to 2005, he worked as an engineer in the CDMA Testing Department at ZTE Corporation. From 2015 to 2016, he served as Deputy Director of the Zunyi Municipal Commission of Industry and Energy as a member of the 16th batch of the Ministry of Organization and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League’s Ph.D. Service Group. From 2018 to 2019, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Utah, USA.


His main research interests include artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, medical image analysis, and smart healthcare. He has presided over one project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), four projects supported by the Guangdong Natural Science Foundation, one Guangdong Science and Technology Project, two Guangzhou Science and Technology Projects, and two SCUT Fundamental Research Funds projects. He has also participated in more than 10 national and provincial-level projects. He has published over 50 academic papers and holds five authorized invention patents.
