On the afternoon of June 8, 2023, the school invited Associate Researcher Li Yingtian from the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to give an academic lecture on the topic Soft Robot, Beyond Compliance. The lecture was chaired by Associate Professor Li Yunquan from the school.
During the lecture, Associate Researcher Li Yingtian discussed the current development status and research needs of soft robots. He highlighted the improved safety of human-robot interaction in soft robots compared to traditional rigid-body robots. He emphasized the significance of active deformation for adapting to complex environments and the selective adjustment of structural stiffness to achieve reliable and effective work. He also addressed significant challenges in equipping soft robots with active deformation and selective stiffness adjustment for future development.
Subsequently, Associate Researcher Li vividly explained several medical robots developed by his research team and their practical applications in respiratory surgery medical scenarios. He also discussed the potential applications of bistable structures in industrial and daily-life scenarios, pointing out the relevant technical challenges.
The atmosphere at the lecture was lively, with teachers and students actively posing numerous relevant questions. Associate Researcher Li Yingtian provided detailed answers to the questions and engaged in in-depth discussions with the attending teachers and students.
