The Ministry of Education “International Cooperation Joint Laboratory on Human-centred Intelligence and Equipment Systems” proposed by South China University of Technology has been approved by the Ministry. Led by Shien-Ming Wu School of Intelligent Engineering, this laboratory marks the third international cooperation joint laboratory of SCUT and the first one of SCUT Guangzhou International Campus.

The Chinese team in the International Cooperation Joint Laboratory on Human-centred Intelligence and Equipment Systems is based in Shien-Ming Wu School of Intelligent Engineering at SCUT, in joint effort from other Schools at SCUT, such as School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, School of Automation Science and Engineering, School of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Software Engineering, School of Biomedical Sciences and Engineering, and School of Future Technology.

The Laboratory, oriented toward the major needs of the country and the health and safety of the people, will develop a framework of human-centred intelligence. Focusing on intelligent healthcare and intelligent manufacturing as typical application scenarios, the Lab collaborates with foreign research teams to conduct frontier research in fundamental theories, core algorithms, and strategic development of human-centred intelligence and equipment systems by integrating various resources.

The Laboratory undertakes strategic national and regional research projects, strengthens applied basic research and facilitates the transformation of research outcomes, the goal of which is to become an influential international talent development hub, leading the forefront development of relevant disciplines and making contributions to the scientific and technological research in the application of artificial intelligence and the upgrading development of relevant industries in China.
