On the morning of December 17th, at the invitation of our dean Chen Xiaoqi, Academician Wang Shuxin, President of Chongqing University, and Jiang Hualin, Deputy Director of the Party and Administration Office of the University, visited our college and had a cordial discussion with representatives of our college teachers in the D1-b305 conference room.

Dean Chen Xiaoqi expressed a warm welcome to Academician Wang's arrival. Yu Tingting, the dean's assistant, made an introduction to the college situation on behalf of the college. The directors of the four newly established research centers in our college (the Safety Intelligent Robot Research Center, the Extreme Manufacturing Research Center, the Smart Medical Research Center, and the Intelligent Connected Vehicle Research Center) reported on their center's work respectively.

After carefully listening to the relevant situation, Academician Wang Shuxin affirmed the new engineering education concept of our college, talent cultivation and interdisciplinary research mode. He said that the teaching mode of new engineering education is very helpful for promoting students' integration of theoretical knowledge and practical ability. During the exchange, Academician Wang gave valuable suggestions for the development of young teachers in our college. As independent PIs, young teachers should establish their own research teams and strengthen communication and cooperation with the outside world. They should attract basic theoretical personnel and engineering technical personnel to join in while meeting national and industry application needs as well as basic theoretical research.

After cordially communicating with our college teachers, Academician Wang also introduced Chongqing University's ideas on building an excellent engineer college and the development of Mingyue Lake International Intelligent Industry Science and Technology Innovation Base. He expressed his expectation for cooperation with our college.

It is understood that Academician Wang Shuxin has long been engaged in research on flexible mechanism systems and their engineering applications in marine equipment, medical equipment, and manufacturing equipment. He has successfully developed 'Miaoshou' minimally invasive surgical robot system and obtained China's first registration certificate for laparoscopic surgical robot products; he has also successfully developed 'Haiyan' series underwater gliders and created a world record for diving depth of 10,619 meters. Academician Wang's visit to our college for guidance and exchange is of positive significance for promoting communication and cooperation between both sides as well as future scientific research cooperation.
