On the morning of January 10th, 2023, the college invited Dr. Zheng Xiaochen from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne to give an academic report entitled “Cognitive Digital Twin and its application in aerospace industry”. The report was hosted by the dean of the college, academician Chen Xiaoqi, and more than 60 teachers and students from the college participated in the online report meeting.
During the report meeting, Dr. Zheng Xiaochen first introduced the typical application scenarios of IoT and industrial big data related technologies under the background of Industry 4.0 and intelligent manufacturing. Then he explained the concept and main technical framework of digital twin technology, and demonstrated two application cases of digital twin in CNC machine tools, including tool remaining life prediction and machine tool predictive maintenance. Based on this, Dr. Zheng analyzed the challenges faced by digital twin technology when facing highly complex systems, and proposed using semantic modeling and model-based system engineering (MBSE) technologies to solve problems such as knowledge management and information integration, and then proposed the concept of cognitive digital twin and its application exploration in aircraft manufacturing system design.
Finally, Dr. Zheng discussed with online teachers and students and gave detailed answers to questions raised by teachers on site.
