On the morning of December 23rd, 2022, the college invited Professor Shane Xie from the University of Leeds in the UK to give an academic report entitled "Mechatronics for Healthcare: Challenges and Opportunities". The report was hosted by the dean of the college, academician Chen Xiaoqi.

During the report meeting, Professor Xie detailed the major challenging issues of future intelligent development of robots in ten areas such as new materials and their preparation processes, bionic robots, robot clusters, artificial intelligence and medical robots based on the current development status and urgent needs in the field of robotics. Then Professor Xie vividly explained the practical applications of multiple medical robots developed by his research team in medical scenarios such as stroke, and pointed out relevant technical difficulties.

The atmosphere at the report site was warm, and teachers and students who participated raised many relevant questions. Professor Xie gave detailed answers to the questions and had in-depth discussions with teachers who attended.
