On the afternoon of September 6, 2022, a conference is held by Shien-Ming Wu School of Intelligent Engineering on the enrollment education of freshmen of 2022 postgraduate students. According to the requirements for epidemic prevention and control of the school, 90 freshmen of the college sit in two separate meeting places, and participate in the postgraduate entrance education meeting online through Tencent Conference.

Professor Zhuliang Yu, Executive Dean of the school, delivers a speech and extends a warm welcome to the freshmen. He introduces the history and the construction of the school. By sharing the learning experience of engineering, he encourages graduate students to be down-to-earth, not only to learn, but also to learn to be a person, so as to create a beautiful and fulfilling campus life. Professor Weihua Li, the vice president in charge of the graduate students, explains the academic norms for the freshmen. He asks the graduates to adhere to academic ethics, resist academic misconduct, and do their learning conscientiously. At the same time, he shares the experience of communication between teachers and students. He hopes that students would be moral, meritorious, and vocal contributions during the postgraduate stage.

Yong Zhong, on behalf of all the teachers, shares his feelings and experiences since he worked in the school, and makes suggestions to the postgraduate students from the perspective of the tutor, citing Hermann's rule. Lei Xu, on behalf of all the newcomers, shares her feelings when she first came to the college. The strong learning atmosphere of SCUT and the beautiful environment of the international campus make her full of expectations for her future study and research life. As the 2022 postgraduate director, Professor Dabo Xu says that he hopes to establish the relationship of teacher and makes friends with everyone in his future study life, and hopes that the graduate students could put forward their own ideas boldly in the research and become the teacher of the tutor. Wenneng Liang, the college counselor, presides over the whole meeting and says that he will work with the college teachers to build a loving postgraduate family of 2022.

After the meeting, a class cadre election was held. Teacher Dabo Xu issued letters of appointment to all elected class cadres.

The new postgraduate students also gain a lot from this enrollment education.

Shengheng He, a 2022 postgraduate freshman:

I feel the expectation of the school and the responsibility of a generation of young students. Correct academic attitude is the first lesson in our research career. I should establish lofty ideals to make our future full of possibilities. The speeches of the student representatives and the selection of class cadres made me understand that I never had the aura of a leading role. Only by keeping a healthy and correct attitude, and constantly facing the successes and failures, opportunities and challenges in my study and life, can I constantly break through myself and be able to make more contributions to the society in the future.

By listening to this lecture on postgraduate entrance education, I gained a lot and understood more deeply that we should be a sincere person and learn rigorously. Always keep in mind the school motto of erudite and thoughtful, clear and practical, regard active learning, temper will as the basic quality of a graduate student, and embrace the idea of daring to be the first, seeking truth from facts, strive to learn from excellent scientific researchers, and constantly improve their own strength and forge ahead. Although the road is endless and faraway, I still want to pursue the truth in the world. We should sweat our ideals and practice our faith with action!
