    Title:Professor

    Personal profile

Wu Hongbin, a professor and doctoral supervisor, graduated from South China University of Technology in 2006 with a doctoral degree. He has long been engaged in research on organic materials, optoelectronic devices, and device physics, achieving a series of results in research areas such as organic electroluminescent devices, solar cells, and photodetecting devices. He has published over 270 academic papers, including in journals such as Nature Photonics, Nature Reviews Physics, and Advanced Materials, with over 24,000 citations. In 2012, he received funding from the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and completed his project with excellent results. In the same year, he was selected for the Young Top-notch Talent Support Program by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. In 2014, he was selected for the Science and Technology Innovation Leading Talent Program by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and in 2015, he was appointed as a Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor by the Ministry of Education. He has led a number of national-level projects, including key support projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and key research and development projects from the Ministry of Science and Technology. His scientific research achievements were selected as one of the Top Ten Scientific Advancements in China in 2012 and as an important achievement in optics in China in 2015. His research papers were selected as one of the top 100 most influential scientific research papers in China (2011, 2012, 2015). He received the first prize (ranked second) for outstanding achievements in scientific research from the Ministry of Education in 2014, the second prize of the National Natural Science Award (ranked second) in 2015, and the first prize of the Hunan Provincial Natural Science Award (ranked fourth) in 2024.

    Research directions

Include organic semiconductor optoelectronic devices (such as electroluminescent devices, solar cells, photodetectors, and laser devices), device physics, energy and infrared optoelectronics, as well as their applications. In the coming years, work will focus on infrared optoelectronic technology and its applications in biological imaging, night vision, sensing, and optical communication.
