Facing the new generation of strategic emerging industries such as information and laser, the team was established in 2001 around the full chain mode of active glass fiber and devices from luminous mechanism to active fiber to fiber laser to laser application, including the backbone of the National Outstanding Youth Fund winners, National Outstanding Youth Fund winners and overseas high-level introduced talents.
The team was awarded the local innovation research team of Guangdong Province's Pearl River Talent Plan in 2017 and the introduction of innovation and entrepreneurship team of Guangdong Province's Pearl River Talent Plan in 2022.

After more than ten years of development, the group has made a series of innovative research achievements in luminescence mechanism, active fiber, fiber laser and laser application. He has published 718 SCI indexed papers in journals such as Nature Nanotechnology, 350 of which have been published in the last 5 years. He was cited 10,921 times by SCI, and 8015 times in the past 5 years; 143 patents have been applied for and 78 have been authorized, of which 64 have been authorized in the past five years. He won the second prize of National Technological invention, the first prize of Technological invention of the Ministry of Education and the second prize of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province. The developed fiber lasers have been successfully used in major national projects such as laser coherent synthesis and atmospheric detection, and have made important contributions to the construction of satellite and spacecraft launch and laser weapon test platforms.
