    Meng Qinlin
    Title:Associate Professor

    Personal profile

Meng Qinglin, Associate Professor, Master's Supervisor. I am currently employed at the Institute of Acoustics, School of Physics and Optoelectronics, South China University of Technology. I obtained my PhD and undergraduate degrees from the Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the School of Underwater Acoustic Engineering, Harbin Engineering University, respectively. I have also worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Shenzhen University and City University of Hong Kong. I have undertaken multiple research projects in the areas of cochlear implant coding strategies and simulation models, speech perception, and autonomous fitting of hearing aids. I have made a series of progress and published articles in well-known publications such as JASA, IEEE-TASLP, Heard Res, ICASSP, Interspeech, etc. The macro research direction is based on psychological and physiological acoustics and sound signal processing, to solve scientific and technological problems related to hearing health. We have established a multidisciplinary cooperation network and organized three consecutive interdisciplinary seminars on artificial auditory technology (iTAP), serving as a member of the Acoustic Education Branch of the Chinese Acoustic Society and the Speech Dialogue and Hearing Special Committee of the Chinese Computer Society. Committed to cultivating first-class hearing health technology talents and promoting the healthy development of China's hearing health industry.

    Research directions

Based on psychological and physiological acoustics and sound signal processing, solve scientific and technological problems related to hearing health. Especially in the areas of cochlear implant coding strategies and simulation models, speech perception, and autonomous fitting of hearing aids and headphones.

Learn about my research direction in 2023 through the following popular science content, translated Auditory Perception, published by People's Health Press in 2018. Why are hearing aids not yet perfect? In 2016, cochlear implants led the forefront of auditory research (ScienceNet).

    Education and Work Experience

2004-2008 Harbin Engineering University, School of Underwater Acoustic Engineering, undergraduate 2008-2013 Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Acoustics, PhD 2013-2016 Shenzhen University, School of Information Engineering, postdoctoral 2016-2020 South China University of Technology, School of Physics and Optoelectronics, lecturer 2017-2018 City University of Hong Kong, Department of Biomedicine, postdoctoral 2020-present South China University of Technology, School of Physics and Optoelectronics, associate professor.

    Representative paper results

We have established a multidisciplinary collaborative network and organized three consecutive interdisciplinary seminars on artificial auditory technology (iTAP). Undertook vertical and horizontal projects from the National Natural Science Foundation, provincial and municipal funds, China Disabled Persons' Federation Fund, Tencent, and others.
