    Dr. XIAO-BAO YANG
    Title:professor

    Personal profile

Yang Xiaobao, professor, doctoral supervisor, recipient of the Guangdong Outstanding Youth Science Fund. I obtained my doctoral degree from the Department of Physics at Tsinghua University in 2008. I mainly engage in theoretical research on the structural stability and electronic structure of materials. I have published 78 SCI papers in international academic journals such as J. Am. Chem. Soc., Nanoscale, Phys. Rev. B, and have been cited more than 1200 times by peers. Hosted the construction project of Computational Physics course and the demonstration classroom project of inquiry based undergraduate teaching, and has repeatedly ranked among the top ten in the entire college according to student evaluation results, and has been awarded the title of Excellent Undergraduate Graduation Design Guidance Teacher; I have currently led and completed 10 research projects funded by national funds, provincial and ministerial levels. In 2013, I was selected for the Guangdong Province Excellent Young Teacher Training Program, in 2014, I was awarded the Guangdong Province Outstanding Youth Science Fund, and in 2015, I was selected for the Guangdong Province Special Support Program for Cultivating High level Talents..

    Research directions

Computational Physics and Computational Materials Science; High throughput screening of multi-component materials and design of new materials, etc.

    2003-2008, Tsinghua University, Doctoral degree

2008-2010, City University of Hong Kong, Postdoctoral degree

2010-2012, South China University of Technology, Associate Professor since 2012, Professor at South China University of Technology

    Representative paper results

Our main achievements include publishing over 100 SCI papers in international journals such as J. Am. Chem. Soc., Nanoscale, and Phys. Rev. B. We have also developed a high-throughput first principles computational program, Structures of Alloys Generation And Recognition (SAGAR), based on structural recognition. We have applied for software copyright and released a web version of SAGAR http://sagar.compphys.cn/sagar

The research funding has led projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation.
