From November 22 to 26, 2025, the 2025 National Polymer Academic Paper Report Conference of the Chinese Chemical Society, hosted by the Polymer Science Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society and South China University of Technology, was grandly held at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center. The conference attracted a total of over 6,300 participants, including more than 20 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering as well as the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, over 200 national high-level leading talents, and 2,311 young student representatives.

"Polymer science is not only a dynamic and fascinating fundamental discipline, but also provides crucial support for the development of the chemical industry and modern technologies." stated Academician Zhang Xi in his speech. He shared this message with the participating teachers and students: The path of scientific research is never a smooth highway, and a research plateau period does not equate to failure; it merely indicates that the research work has encountered a phased bottleneck, which is an inherent part of the scientific research process. He encouraged all teachers and students to break through academic bottlenecks by making good use of new research tools, fully leveraging academic visits, embracing technological revolutions, and attaching great importance to academic exchanges. He also urged them to engage in in-depth exchanges and mutual inspiration at this conference, so as to break through their own bottlenecks while advancing the development and progress of polymer science in China.

With the theme of Gathering Polymer Wisdom in Guangdong, Co-writing a New Era Chapter, the conference focused on cutting-edge fields including polymer chemistry, polymer physics, polymer materials, and advanced polymer science. Over the four-day event, 23 thematic sub-venues were set up, featuring 7 plenary lectures, 420 invited talks, 818 oral presentations, 371 flash presentations, and 2,106 poster displays. Additionally, the conference specially organized the China-U.S. Polymer Forum and China-ROK Polymer Forum.

Centering on the important role of polymer science and technology in economic and social development in the new era, the conference comprehensively showcased the latest research achievements and development trends in China's polymer science and materials sector in recent years. It provided a broad academic and technological exchange platform for researchers, educators, industry practitioners, and young students engaged in polymer-related research and development. The event aimed to promote the sustainable development and innovation of the polymer discipline, tackle core and key technical challenges, and facilitate the transformation of scientific research achievements into practical applications.

It is reported that the National Polymer Academic Paper Report Conference is the most influential academic event in China's polymer community. The next session will be held in Hefei, Anhui Province in 2027, hosted by the University of Science and Technology of China.
