Educational Objectives:
Taking the major national needs in the field of biomaterials and medical devices as the traction, cultivate good humanities literacy, social responsibility and professional ethics, adapt to the needs of social and economic development, systematically master the basic knowledge of professional (mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, medicine), as well as the basic theories and basic skills of biomaterials, have solid professional knowledge and multidisciplinary knowledge architecture in the field of biomaterials, and have the ability to comprehensively analyze and solve problems, practical skills and innovation ability. Be able to engage in scientific research, design, technology development and management in the field of biomaterials. Cultivate high-quality three innovations(innovation, creation, entrepreneurship) outstanding talents with both national feelings and global vision, excellent three forces (learning,thinking, and action), and all-round development of moral, intellectual,physical, aesthetic and labor, who can achieve outstanding achievements in scientific and technological innovation and engineering and technology practice activities as the backbone of innovation or entrepreneurship.
After undergraduate training, after about 5years of work or study after graduation, students of this major can have thefollowing abilities:
(1) be able to successfully work in industry,academia and other fields related to the major, and adapt to an independent and team work environment;
(2) Be able to use the basic theory and professional knowledge of materials and biomaterials to solve complex engineering problems related to the field of biomaterials.
(3) Have the ability to engage in scientificr esearch and teaching, technology development, design and manufacturing, technological innovation and business management in the design, preparation,performance analysis and other aspects of biomaterials and medical devices.
(4) Have good professional ethics and excellent qualities of three realities and one new (solid foundation, practical work, simple style, and courage toinnovate), can adapt to career development through lifelong learning, and have a continuous improvement of workplace competitiveness and global vision in the field of biomaterials.
Program Profile:
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering of our university has been recruiting graduate students in the field of biomaterials since the 80s of last century. At present, the main research areas include: new tissue and organ regeneration and repair materials, biomedical detection and diagnosis materials, nano-biomedical materials, drug carriers and controlled release materials, diagnosis and new therapeutic materials formalignant tumors, bioactive surface controllable modified materials, degradable/Absorbable biomedical materials, new broad-spectrum antiviral and antibacterial medical materials, supervision and evaluation of biological materials, etc.
The major has a team of teachers with a positive attitude, reasonable age and knowledge structure, high teaching and scientific research level, relying on thenational, provincial and ministerial high-level discipline construction platform, established a number of advanced and standardized talent training and scientific research laboratories, and established a number of practice and innovation and entrepreneurship bases with industry backbone enterprises and medical institutions. Concentrate on cultivating outstanding professionals,cultivating excellent teaching and scientific research achievements, aiming at building a domestic first-class and internationally advanced professional direction, focusing on the major needs of the country, establishing a training base for innovation and high-level talents at the source of scientific and technological achievements, forming an important academic influence at home and abroad, and providing strong academic and talent support for the development of China's materials and biomaterials related industries.
