Abstract:
Given the ever-increasing number of submitted manuscripts, it is challenging for a manuscript to be accepted and published in high impact journals. Dr. Feng Jiang will briefly introduce the framework of materials science journals from Elsevier and provide insights into the general editorial workflow for Elsevier journals. The report will offer helpful strategies to publish impactful papers with Elsevier, including choosing the journal with suitable aim & scope, impress the editor with good title & abstract, etc. Also Dr. Jiang will share with audience about his experience on manuscript pre-evaluation and ethical issues, tips to convince the editors to reach the peer-review process and address the scholars’ main concerns on preparing their manuscript.
Brief introduction of reporter:
Dr. Feng Jiang received his PhD in inorganic chemistry from the group of Metals in Catalysis, Biomimetics & Inorganic Materials (MCBIM) at Leiden University, and the group of Theoretical Chemistry at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands. After that, he held a short experience as a postdoctoral fellow at the same institutes, and as a chemical engineer at the petroleum analyzer company, Rotterdam. He joined Elsevier, the Amsterdam office, as a managing editor in January 2020, where he was responsible for the scientific evaluation and ethical issue identification of a portfolio of physical journals. Now he is a publisher of materials science, Elsevier, and is managing a portfolio of general materials science journals, e.g., Materials Science and Engineering R (IF, 31), Materials Today Electronics, Materials Today Catalysis, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Computational Materials Science, Materials Science and Engineering B, and Computational Materials Today etc.
