Abstract:

SCC growth in stainless steels and nickel alloy structural materials exposed to high temperature water exhibit similar dependencies and thus are likely to occur by similar mechanisms.  SCC growth shows no evidence of immunity or thresholds, although many parameters will affect the growth rate.  Initiation can be quantified with much less precision and relevance than growth, and can occur by multiple mechanisms.
