Abstracts:
Functionalization is highly valued as an important direction in the development of polymer composites, and its functionalities include: electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, dielectricity, electromagnetic shielding, and deformation sensing. However, the effective contribution of the intrinsically excellent functionality of these fillers in the overall composites is still very limited and needs to be improved urgently. On the other hand, the functional fillers are usually encapsulated by polymer molecular chains or surface-modified molecules in the polymer matrix, which prevents the formation of direct overlap between the fillers. To address the above problems, the authors focus on the basic scientific issue of confinement, assembly and relaxation of inorganic fillers in organic/inorganic composites, and innovatively introduce polymer dendrimers into the construction process of functional polymer composites, which have strong adhesion to various substrates and strong network construction ability. These polymer dendritic particles have strong adhesion to various substrates, strong network construction ability, and excellent ability to grab the functional fillers onto the surface. As a result, it is possible to prepare functional composite films with high filler content, direct filler-to-filler networks, and mechanical flexibility. In addition, the method can be used to attach a large number of fillers to a porous structure, thus realizing direct contact between the functional filler and the medium (e.g. water) in the porous structure. The group has been actively exploring the method for moisture generation, thermoelectricity, elastic conductors and radiation cooling materials. This novel strategy provides useful ideas for a range of applications. The related industrialization results were successfully applied to Huawei Mate60 series cell phone antenna modules.
