Wang Yingjun, Ph.D., professor, doctoral supervisor. She is the academic pacemaker of Biomedical Engineering, Director of National Engineering Center for Tissue Restoration and Reconstruction, President of Chinese Society of Biomaterials,Vice President of Chinese Materials Research Society. Elected as the Fellow of Biomaterials Science and Engineering of International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering in 2007, elected as the Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2015, elected as the Academician of Asia Pacific Academy of Materials in 2019.
Prof Wang is the academic pacemaker of National Engineering Center for Tissue Restoration and Reconstruction. The center has a strong research team of more than 220 R&D personnels from multiple majors, such as material science, biomedical engineering, clinical medicine, etc. covers biomedical materials, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, biomedical information and medical image, technical and equipment of precision medicine, which includes four academicians, three Distinguished “Yangtze River” Scholars, six National Distinguished Young Scholars, two National Excellent Young Scholars, two fellows of the International Society for Biomaterials Science and Engineering, two fellows of the International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The center owns one innovation team of the Ministry of Education, two innovation teams of the Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province. It has already set up a complete system from undergraduate to post-doctoral on Engineering, Science and Medical Science.
Otherwise, a team of technical transformation and support has been developed which has 120 technicist with engineering and marketing experience. Experts from well-known universities hospitals around the world, technicist and managers of the leading enterprises have been invited to the center as guest staff, including the academicians, Distinguished “Yangtze River” Scholars, six National Distinguished Young Scholars.The center has undertaken hundreds of funding supports from the government including those top grants such as 973 Program/National Key R&D Program, 863 Program, Key Program of NFSC, with total funding of 200 millions. The research achievements has been issued more than 20 awards, including the 1st and 2nd prize of the National Natural Science Award, the 2nd prize of the National Technical Invention, the 1st and 2nd prize of the National Teaching Achievement. 600 papers have been published, more than 400 are indexed by SCI/EI. The center has the first Overseas Expertise Introduction Center for Discipline Innovation for Novel Biomedical Materials and Tissue Restoration of its kind in China. In addition, the center has built strong ties with world-class unversities including Nanyang Technological University, Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University, and University of Glasgow etc.
The center is striving for innovation of its system in aim to establishing a “open, diverse, dynamic, and efficient’ management mode. It has launched the Guangdong Provincial Innovative Alliance of Industry, as well as National Collaborative Innovation Center for Human Tissue Recontruction in 2018. The center has been working on setting up novel collabrative connection of Medicine-Industry-Research-Enterprise-Regulation, and shortening the development period of high-end medical devices and made important contributions and impacts to the national economic development in the fields of medicine and health.
